About Moi

I am Omid, a world expatriate living in Japan with my French-Canadian wife Gabrielle; I am obsessed with Raw Food & Healthy Cooking, eating, sampling new ingredients, styling and photographing food. This is besides writing Health Related Articles about the Art of Raw Food & healthy Living for TTS (Tried.Tasted.Served) Website. I feel lucky to have lived in a few countries including beautiful Japan that has a rich food culture, so I now continue to travel the world and document my discoveries with words and photos. I have recently changed my work to a food stylist/photographer/Food & Health writer, and feel blessed to be able to combine my passion into my work.

Shiitake is kind of my personal blog and a privileged place where I can share my food discoveries, stories, experiments, and where I can be as creative as I want and can.

Why “Shiitake” as the name of my blog?

I love the intonations, the Shii - take. It gives me the sense of connection to my essence and feeling of being grounded in myself. It has a rich sounding effect and it also has a rich color, taste and medicinal use, and the most important part is that it is so versatile. I think this is a good word to describe me too.

At the moment my portfolio is my blog Shiitake and most images on TTS & Raw, the Art of Living Blog. But, I will be putting something together in the coming future when I get the chance.
